Tuesday, June 8 is Election Day. We've collected voter info for Bar Harbor, Dover-Foxcroft, Durham, Ellsworth, Falmouth, Freeport, Portland, Pownal, and Yarmouth. By visiting Vote411.org, you can see what's on the ballot, find your polling place, and much more! 

On Tuesday, June 8, many towns across Maine will hold their local elections. Just as we did in November 2020, we'll send out observers to watch democracy in action. If you have a few hours available on Election Day, you can be part of our nonpartisan Observer Corps. We'll train you! 

The rest of our priority bills are unchanged from last week. Quite a few other bills got killed during the floor session last Wednesday. The Legislature is planning to reconvene on June 2 and 3, every day the week after, and a few more days the week after that.

The legislative session scheduled for last week had to be cancelled because of COVID, but the Legislature will try again this week, Wednesday, May 19. We’re still following almost 100 bills, 50 of which we testified on. Here's where things stand on our highest priority bills.

Our recipient for this year's Ann M. Luther Award for Excellence in Volunteerism was a walk-on at Convention in 2017. She came to Convention that year as a total newbie and has made herself an indispensable all-star in every way since.

It's time to rally public support for the National Popular Vote (NPV). Today, May 11 at 9 AM, there will be a public hearing in the Veterans & Legal Affairs Committee on two NPV bills (LD 1330 and LD 1384).

Two of our priority bills (LD 1417 and LD 1155) passed out of committee last week! As far as what comes next, the Maine Legislature had blocked off May 12 and 13 to convene again, but that plan got cancelled. So here's what we have planned for this week.

Convention is the time for League members to vote on the future of our organization. But it's also so much more than that. We've invited guests to talk with our community about the importance of youth engagement and civics education, two major ways to inspire lifelong voters and civically-engaged lives.

The proposal would improve voter information, protect the rights of nonpartisan observers, and ensure consistent treatment of student IDs when registering to vote.
