Election day is November 4th! Remember, teaching about elections and voting will affect significantly whether your students will vote.

Today, Maine voters rejected Question 1, a ballot measure that would have implemented a highly restrictive voter ID law and stripped away popular aspects of absentee voting. This is a win for voting rights and for Maine voters.

The action initiated by the Department of Justice to access voter data would only serve to erode trust in the democratic process. It would needlessly compromise voter privacy and open the door to abuse of these sensitive records. We are committed to protecting Maine voters’ information and preserving the integrity of Maine elections.

Election Day is November 4, 2025.

It’s election season! The upcoming weeks offer a great opportunity to discuss important referendums and local elections in your community. 

We'll talk about free speech, chilled speech, and self-censorship -- historically in the U.S. and currently. We've been producing this radio show for over 20 years, and this is the first time that invited guests have been afraid to come on the radio and criticize the federal government. This is not normal. This will be the sixth program in our series on the constitutional crisis.

Every day, our students are scrolling, streaming, and sharing—and it’s not always easy for them to tell what’s real, what’s reliable and what should be questioned. In this issue, we recognize the challenge of finding reliable sources and also share with you material to help teach and appreciate the critical skill of media literacy.  

On November 4, Mainers will vote on two different ballot questions. The League of Women Voters of Maine is committed to providing information to voters so that they feel confident when they vote.
